Averi Ridge Castaneda
Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate
Welcome to the world of therapy! I commend you for taking this first step and prioritizing your mental health and well-being. Therapy requires vulnerability – which is not always easy! My goal is to make the therapeutic process as smooth as possible for you and ensure you get the help/services you need. I am committed to cultivating a safe space for you to grow and absolutely flourish in!
I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA). I received a Master of Social Work degree through the Joint MSW Program between The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I am also a Children’s Author and recently published a book called The Compulsion Cloud. This book describes what Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is and how to treat it in a kid-friendly way.
I have three years of experience working with children and adolescents in a residential treatment program setting, as well as providing intensive in-home services to clients and their families. I have worked with a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, life adjustments/transitions, and self-esteem issues. I am also comfortable working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
I take a strengths-based and relational approach to counseling; creating an environment that is built on mutual respect, compassion, and authenticity. I am a very bubbly, animated, and hands-on clinician that enjoys incorporating art, music, worksheets, and games into sessions when appropriate. I will be your biggest cheerleader – pom poms and all!
I draw upon a variety of counseling theories and modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management Training, and Person-Centered therapy. I am open to incorporating Christian beliefs into the therapeutic process if desired.
I look forward to walking alongside you in your self-healing journey. I will act as a guide, but ultimately, you are the leader!
